Taking to Instagram earlier today, Britney models a slew of different outfits with a few very notable character tributes. Now, Britney Spears has just gone and dressed up as not one, but FIVE different characters from the award-winning show. Of course, it was totally fire and not at all what we'd expect to see a teacher wear, but ain't that the beauty of Euphoria? The style may not be realistic, but it is incredible. And it seems we're not alone - celebrities are also leaning into the East Highland High School ~aesthetic~.Įarlier this year, Megan Fox channelled the show in fashion form, sharing the outfit she'd wear if she was an 'AP Literature teacher' in the show. Bivens also earned Emmy, Primetime, and CDG Award nominations for her work on Euphoria, cementing her status as one of the most versatile and introspective stylists in the scene. This is made further so thanks to the success of season one, with the series regarded as a style tour de force amongst the sartorial conscious. Knowing this, it stands to reason that the show’s head costume designer, Heidi Bivens, has her work cut out for her. Season one was brimming with such moments, such as with the shedding of Kat’s conservative wardrobe to make way for bold, dominatrix-inspired picks to reflect her new attitude towards sex and love. There is a deliberateness to the choice of clothing in each episode, where it acts as a device to tip-off viewers about certain plot threads. To see a character sport a school-emblazoned hoodie and jeans feels sacrilegious, almost a betrayal to the universe and personalities so meticulously crafted by Levinson. That, in large part, explains why there is nothing typical about the threads featured in Euphoria. Rather, he employs lighting, location, makeup, and-most palpably-fashion to convey the intentions of the characters. ![]() As fans can attest, show runner Sam Levinson doesn’t stop at dialogue alone. What sets it apart from the crowd is the way it chooses to deliver its message. Based on these factors alone, Euphoria fits neatly into its bracket. They are shows built upon growing pains that allow viewers to reminiscence about the fleeting (and at times, foolish) nature of youth. Teen dramas have, historically, contained narratives surrounding adolescent pregnancy, drug use and societal pressures. All things considered, Euphoria is not a series that subverts genre expectations.
